Rule Changes Coming in High School Hockey

Risk Minimization Highlights Changes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 16, 2018) — Rules changes related to minimizing risk of injury in high school ice hockey are among five revisions for the 2018-19 season.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Ice Hockey Rules Committee recommended the changes at its April 23-24 meeting in Indianapolis, and all changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

Avon Lake pulls off amazing comeback

Shoremen knock off Amherst in overtime

BROOKLYN — Skate, Jared, skate.

After trailing Amherst by three goals in the first round of the Brooklyn district tournament Tuesday, 11th-seeded Avon Lake took the game to overtime and stunned sixth-seeded Amherst with a 4-3 win when Jared Aslaksen outraced two defenders for the winner just 29 seconds into the extra session.

The Shoremen (26-6) will face Southwestern Conference foe Olmsted Falls on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. back at the Brooklyn Recreation Center. The Bulldogs are the last team to beat Avon Lake, back in the SWC tournament.
