Rule Changes Coming in High School Hockey

Risk Minimization Highlights Changes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (May 16, 2018) — Rules changes related to minimizing risk of injury in high school ice hockey are among five revisions for the 2018-19 season.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Ice Hockey Rules Committee recommended the changes at its April 23-24 meeting in Indianapolis, and all changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

St. Xavier Wins First Two Tournament Games

Liberty next up for Bombers in Columbus District QF

The Bomber Hockey team opened up OHSAA tournament play last weekend against the Troy Trojans.

The Bombers earned the number twelve seed in the district, with Troy earning the twenty second seed. The Bombers and Trojans have been familiar foes this year, as this would be the fifth match-up of the season. The Bombers took the previous four match-ups in commanding fashion.

Ice, maybe the most unforgiving and unrelenting surface for sports competition, always reveals the truth. It leaves nothing to interpretation.

For local high school hockey teams, the ice brings with it a winter war where each side is clad in custom sweaters, feet fashioned with freshly-sharpened skates, and sticks spun with tape down to the smallest detail. 

The season kicked off a few weeks ago and there are seven area teams in action this season. Here’s a look at the local ice brigade.
