St. Charles rallied from a three-goal deficit to tie Shaker Heights, 3-3, but came up just short in their attempt to qualify for Sunday’s championship game at the 2018 Padua Holiday Hockey Tournament.
The Cardinals needed a win to qualify for the final. Instead, they finished second in the West Division to Olentangy Liberty and will play in tomorrow’s third place game against a TBD opponent from the East Division.
St. Charles junior forward Marco Giambrone scored twice in the game, including a shorthanded goal that tied the game with 5:13 to go in the third period.
Giambrone has scored eight goals in three tournament games.
It was the fourth tie game of the day at the tournament.
