North Olmsted native Quinn Warmuth, who skated in the Great Lakes Hockey League for Saint Ignatius High School and then the Cleveland Jr. Barons U16 team for a year, made the Preliminary Watch List for NHL Central Scouting.

The list, which identifies likely prospects for the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, also included two of Warmuth’s teammates from the 2015-16 Jr. Barons:  Curtis Hall of the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) and Medina’s Christian Felton who is playing this season for Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire.

Warmuth was a freshman on Patrick O’Rourke’s 2014-15 Saint Ignatius team, and is currently in his second season of junior hockey with the Amarillo Bulls of the Tier II North American Hockey League (NAHL). 

O’Rourke pointed out it's tough for freshmen to make the varsity team in any sport at the school.

“Quinn was very coachable, very positive, had prototype size, especially height, and had really wicked hands.” said O’Rourke.  “We have followed Quinn from afar as he's progressed in the NAHL and are rooting for him to make it big.”  

The 6’3, 187-pound defenseman collected eight assists and 36 penalty minutes in 54 games played for Amarillo last year.  In seven games this season, he has his first NAHL goal and has accrued 17 penalty minutes.

Warmuth’s teammates in Amarilo, this season and last, include another pair of Jr. Baron alums:  former St. Edward forward Colin Price (North Ridgeville) and Mercyhurst recruit Steven Ipri (Broadview Heights).

Following his time with the Barons, Felton moved to the Skipjacks AAA program for a year before moving east to KUA.  He is also a draft pick of the USHL’s Madison Capitols.

Hall is the highest-touted prospect of the trio.  The 6’2, 195-pound center, who was invited to participate in the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game in Buffalo, NY last month, will play this season for the Phantoms before heading to Yale.
