BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Bowling Green State University released a statement Thursday regarding its investigation into an alleged off-campus hazing incident, with hockey coach Ty Eigner being reinstated to return to the team.
The Oct. 19 statement claimed that "no member of the BGSU hockey staff had any direct or indirect knowledge of the off-campus event."
In the statement, BGSU said an independent investigation found that student-athletes engaged in conduct with the potential to cause humiliation, physical harm or emotional harm at an off-campus event. The investigation also found that student-athletes engaged in underage drinking and provision of alcohol to those underage by older members of the hockey team.
No final determination has been made regarding possible repercussions, however, the students who violated the code of conduct have been alerted.
