The other day, Blade hockey writer Mark Monroe sent out a tweet that was news to many in the Ohio pucks community.
“Just saw that the 1st of the 2 high school hockey state semifinals at Nationwide Arena in Columbus is being held at 9 in the morning on March 11,” he wrote. “Way too early for a game of that significance.”

Most on Twitter agreed, and, next thing you knew, the slap-shot-in-the-face treatment of a signature event had some thinking out loud.
Sure, Nationwide Arena — the 18,500-seat home of the Blue Jackets — is very nice, and it’s a thrill for high school kids to play in an NHL barn, even if the stands are mostly empty.
But if only there were an alternative to playing a final four game over breakfast.
