With the Dublin Scioto hockey team on the verge of disbanding, a group of parents stepped in to help save the program.
Players and parents were informed in September that the school would not offer a team this winter because of a lack of numbers, as just nine skaters and one goalie were planning to participate.
With the help of parents, the team added players from other schools and began devising a schedule. Since it was too late to form a club team, Scioto is playing an independent schedule – against primarily junior varsity competition – and hopes to return to being a school-sanctioned program in the future.
