High school hockey teams ready to play outdoors at Winterfest

St. John's Jesuit junior Charlie Anderson can envision snow softly falling on the gleaming outdoor sheet of ice in downtown Toledo

The young defenseman grew up watching his NHL heroes play outdoors in what has become an annual winter tradition.

Now Anderson and a group of local high school hockey players are getting a unique opportunity to play in an outdoor game themselves. Nine teams from northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan will take part in the Walleye's Winterfest event at Fifth Third Field over the next two weeks.
