Maumee native Ben Schoen has already dealt with his fair share of ups and downs during his burgeoning hockey career, and those challenges have prepared the highly skilled forward for the next step.

After authoring a productive career in major junior hockey, Schoen is ready to write the next chapter. Now 19, Schoen will be a freshman this fall at Penn State University.

“It's kind of surreal,” Schoen said. “Obviously it's been a goal my whole life to play Division I college hockey, and now that I'm here. It's just so cool.”
