It’s CBJ Cup time in Central Ohio

The CHC White Division play wrapped up this past weekend with Olentangy Orange on top with 22 points, two points ahead of Berlin and Moeller. The Pioneers finished the regular season winning three games and losing just one over the last two weeks of the season. Giving them enough points to push past both Moeller and Berlin. Coach Damrath is pleased with the growth the team has shown over the course of the season and the leadership of the upperclassmen. Orange has a rematch with Liberty in the Blue Jacket Cup and will face the winner of St Xavier and Cincinnati Elder in the OHSAA tournament.

The Olentangy Berlin Bears finished strong, winning three and losing two over the last two weekends. The Bears fell to Red division teams New Albany and St Charles, but beat a solid St Xavier team along with Bishop Watterson and St Francis DeSales. The Bears have a rematch with St Charles in the Blue Jacket Cup and will face the winner of Moeller and DeSales in the OHSAA tournament.

Meanwhile, Moeller slid into third place from their early season division lead by having a mid-season swoon that ended after losing to Dublin Jerome and tying Dublin Coffman. In the final weekend the Crusaders returned to early season form by shutting out Bishop Watterson and DeSales. The Crusaders face #1 seed Upper Arlington in the Blue Jacket Cup and will face DeSales in the first round of the OHSAA tournament.

St Xavier finished fourth with 18 points after two lopsided wins over Columbus Academy and Gahanna Lincoln and a one point win over Olentangy. The Bombers missed an opportunity to make a big move when they lost to Olentangy Berlin in the last weekend. The Bombers are the top seed in the Consolation Tournament and will face Elder in the OHSAA Tournament.

Thomas Worthington finished a strong season after moving up from the Blue division with three straight shutouts before forfeiting to Jerome the final game. The Cardinals finished fifth but their winning record is a testament to the strong play and improving program. The Cardinals will face Watterson in the Blue Jacket Cup and Beavercreek in the OHSAA Tournament.

Springboro finished sixth in the White division, winning two and losing two over the last two weekends. The Panthers dropped two games to Red division teams and won easily over two Blue division teams. The Panthers struggled at times and excelled at times this season. They graduate a strong senior class once again and will have to work even harder next year to gain ground on many of the Columbus area teams. The Panthers will face Columbus Academy in the first round of the CBJ Cup and Talawanda in the OHSAA Tournament.

Coffman and Olentangy round out the White division, respectively with 12 and 11 points. Coffman staved off relegation by tying Moeller and then beating Olentangy in overtime. Previously, the Rocks were on a three game slide at the hands of two Red division teams and Springboro. Olentangy won two and lost two over the last two weekends, but the final game of the season ending in the overtime loss to Coffman. The Rocks and Braves will do it all over in the first round of the Blue Jacket Cup. Coffman drew Archbishop Alter in the OHSAA Tournament while Olentangy will face Watterson in the first round.
