BROOKLYN — Surviving and advancing is the only thing that matters in the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League Baron Cup II tournament.
Second-seeded Avon Lake, shorthanded with several players missing from the lineup due to the flu, did just that to beat seventh-seeded Solon 3-2 at the Brooklyn Recreation Center on Tuesday night to advance to Friday's semifinals.
The Shoremen (24-7-1) will face neighboring Avon after the sixth-seeded Eagles stunned South Division champion Parma 4-3 in the final game of the night.
