Olentangy Orange held their annual Pioneer Classic Tournament this weekend at Chiller North Ice Center in Lewis Center. Six Capital Hockey Conference White division teams competed in the tournament:  Olentangy Orange, Olentangy Berlin, Olentangy High School, Thomas Worthington, Dublin Coffman, and Springboro.

A total of sixteen teams competed in the tournament, divided between an Orange and a Blue division and further divided into four team sub-divisions. Overall the CHC White teams enjoyed a great deal of success, posting a combined 16-8 record. Each of the CHC White teams earned at least two wins out of four games. In addition, three CHC White teams advanced to play in the two Championship games and one team emerged with a first-place trophy.

The Blue Division Championship game was an all CHC White division affair. Thomas Worthington won all of its pool games in the Blue North division, advancing to the Blue Championship game, which they won over the Springboro Panthers, 6-3. The Cardinals shut out all three of their pool play opponents, beating Linsly School (WV) 6-0, Athens 4-0 and Dublin Coffman 7-0. In the Blue South division, Springboro also won all of its preliminary games to advance to the Blue Championship game against CHC White division foe Worthington.

Dublin Coffman and Olentangy also participated in the Blue division, both teams won two games and lost two over the weekend.

In the Orange East division, host Olentangy Orange won all three pool play games to advance to the Orange Championship game, but lost to state-ranked Mentor, 5-2. The Cardinals were the victors of the Orange West division, by winning all of their pool play games. Olentangy Berlin participated in the Orange West division, winning two games and losing two, taking fifth place in the Orange division.
