The Saint Ignatius Wildcats (19-0-1) swept all 10 first-place votes in this week’s Ohio High School Hockey Coach’s Poll – a week after ceding two #1 votes to Upper Arlington.
Voters were apparently convinced by the Wildcats sweeping four games in two days in Ontario last weekend while Upper Arlington – still a perfect 24-0-0 on the season – kept winning but was not as convincing.
Olentangy Liberty was dropped two spots from #4 to #6 after CHC White Division squad Thomas Worthington played them to a 2-2 tie, but voters still kept GCHSHL Red Division leader Mentor behind Liberty.
St. Edward moved up to #4 – their highest position of the season – and Toledo St. John’s stayed right behind them at #5 despite losing their last two games and three of their last five.
Toledo St. Francis earned their way back into the Top 10 with a 4-3 win over St. John’s, displacing University School which had been losing steam in recent weeks.
