A look around the CHC White Division

The Berlin Bears are making big noise in the CHC White division. The Bears are now just one point behind Moeller after two big weekends winning five straight CHC games.

Two weeks ago, the Bears posted big wins over Springboro, Gahanna and Thomas Worthington in overtime. This past weekend was a huge weekend for the Bears, recording decisive wins over division leading Moeller 4-2 and then against Columbus Academy 8-2. Berlin took control of a 1-1 game midway through the 2nd period and never looked back. The Bears scored 2 early goals in the third period and withstood a barrage of Moeller chances late to win 4-2.

Moeller had another rough weekend, first dropping the game to Olentangy Berlin Saturday night, then losing to Olentangy Orange at home on Sunday. The losses drop the Crusaders to 7-3-1 with just a one-point lead over Olentangy Berlin.

Olentangy Orange won two and lost one over the weekend to stay in third place in the White division. A big win over Olentangy on Friday was followed by a solid effort on Saturday against #2 ranked Upper Arlington. The Pioneers kept it close until the third period, down just 3=1, but the skill and strength of the Golden Bears took over in the third period outscoring the Pioneers 4-1 in the third to win 7-2.

In fourth place are the St. Xavier Bombers who hosted two games over the weekend, losing a tough game to Olentangy Liberty and winning soundly over Bishop Watterson to remain even at 5-5-0 thus far. Currently tied with the Bombers, the Springboro Panthers are trying to keep pace with their former SWOHSHL opponent. The Panthers split a pair of home games as well, losing big to Dublin Jerome and then slipping past Olentangy on Saturday.

Thomas Worthington has been coming up big against some powerful front running teams. First losing in overtime to Olentangy Berlin on Sunday January 5th, then gaining a tie against Olentangy Liberty. The Cardinals finished up their CHC weekend by beating Bishop Watterson. The Cardinals trail St. Xavier and Springboro by just two points.

Dublin Coffman trails Worthington by one point but dropped two games over the weekend to CHC Red division teams New Albany and Dublin Jerome. The Olentangy Braves are still coming together as a team but lost two games over the weekend to CHC White teams Olentangy Orange and Springboro.

All the teams this weekend are away from conference play for MLK weekend tournaments.
