Redmen looking like the early favorites

November has come and gone, and we are heading into Christmas break action. Below is an update of the White South division.

Parma (9-2-0,1-0-0) started off the season scorching as they went 4-0-0 to bring home the Championship in the Nordonia Thanksgiving Tournament. Winning isn’t the term I would use as they outscored their opponents (Nordonia, Aurora, NDCL, Mayfield) by a margin of 38-2. They immediately carried their momentum into the Adam Hamilton Tournament, but suffered their only losses on the season thus far they finished 2-2-0 overall. Losing in OT in one game against Kent Roosevelt and losing by one goal in a great game against division favorite Amherst Steele. After beating Cleveland Heights 7-1 in non-league action, Parma will be back in league play this week against Western Reserve Academy and Canfield.

Aurora (6-2-0, 2-1-0) is off to a strong start this season, taking second place to Parma (7-1 loss) in the Nordonia Thanksgiving Tournament. Currently in second place in the White South, Aurora won a non-league game against Orange, 2-1, and continued to play solid in league play beating Canfield and CVCA. They hope to keep the good times rolling with only one league game this weekend against Western Reserve Academy on Saturday.

Solon (3-6-0, 1-0-0) packed their schedule with back-to-back tournaments starting with the Tim Alexander Tournament and then the Adam Hamilton Memorial, finishing 1-3-0 in both events. Solon will be back in league action this weekend against Canfield on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

Canfield (3-3-0, 0-2-0) struggled in league play as they are 0-2-0 but 3-1-0 in non -league action with big wins in the Tim Alexander Tournament against Twinsburg (10-0) and Clay (10-0) before stumbling against Orange (6-3). After another non-league win against Westlake (4-0), Canfield will be back to GCHSHL league action this weekend against Solon on Saturday and Parma on Sunday.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (1-5-0,1-2-0) is off to a rough start as they went 0-3-0 at the Bruce Anderson Memorial. After picking up their first win of the season against Canfield (6-1) CVCA will have some time to relish in the victory as they are off a few weeks until Christmas break action kicks off.

Western Reserve Academy (0-5-0, 0-0-0), despite the winless record, continues to play against tough competition as they played in the Honey Pot Invitational over Thanksgiving. Although going 0-4-0 they matched up with the best Ohio “club” hockey teams in the State such as North Royalton, St. Ignatius, and North Coast “American”. Afterwards they started their Prep schedule with a game against Linsly Prep (WV) losing 2-0. This weekend, WRA will get a better idea where they stand in the division as they will kick off league play with games against Parma and Aurora.
