A berth in a state semifinal March 8 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus will be on the line Friday when St. John’s Jesuit takes on Northview for the district hockey championship at 6:30 p.m. at Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter.
St. John’s (18-11-2), under coach Matt Bollinger and the champions of the Northwest Hockey Conference’s Red Division with a 5-1 mark, was ranked No. 9 in the final state coaches poll.
The resilient Wildcats (12-14-6, 2-4), who under coach Steve Elliott have had 20 of their 32 games decided by two or fewer goals, enter as Ohio’s 10th-ranked team.
