Jim Smith

Jim Smith grew up skating on a pond in the shadows of the President William McKinley Monument in Canton.  A Canton McKinley Senior High School and Kent State University alumnus, he has written about hockey from the youth to the NHL levels, and his work has appeared in a variety of media platforms. He is a regular contributor to USA Junior Hockey Magazine and the Record-Courier (Kent, Ohio).

Smith has also covered the NBA G-League and is currently conducting research for a project regarding the history of high school basketball in Canton.

Smith is involved in the local hockey scene as a USA Hockey Volunteer and CSHL League Secretary. One of his fondest memories in his role with the CSHL was assisting in the re-development of youth hockey at Halloran Park in Cleveland.

Jim is a member of the Society for International Hockey Research (SIHR), Professional Football Researchers Association (PFRA) and North American Society for Sports History (NASSH). You can follow Jim on Twitter @bluelinenotes
