Southwest Ohio Update – 12/16/2018
Southwest Ohio League Red Division
Defending Champ St. Xavier appears to be the team to beat in the Southwest Ohio High School Hockey League. They are now 5-0-0 in the league and 8-5-0 overall. Their only game from last weekend was a 10-1 win over Alter. Talawanda stands at 4-0-0 in the league and 9-6-0 overall after winning two and losing two over the weekend at the Kent Holiday Tournament. The Braves beat Olentangy Berlin and Bishop Watterson, while losing to Kenston and Hudson.
Alter and Centerville both stand at 2-3-0 in the league after the weekend. The two teams matched up on Saturday night with Alter winning in overtime. The Alter student body and pep band provided a raucous atmosphere that provided a lift for the Alter team. Alter stands at 4-7-0 after a win over Mason and Centerville and the loss to St Xavier. Centerville beat Elder 11-2 on Sunday to improve to 2-3-0 and 4-9-0 overall. Elder is 1-3-0 and 2-9-0 overall after a win over Mason and the loss to Centerville.
Southwest Ohio League Gold Division
Beavercreek sits on top of the Gold Division at 3-0-0 and 8-1-0 overall after wins over the Dayton Stealth and Indian Hill JV teams this past weekend. There is a long way to go in the season, but the Beavers are looking like the favorite to move up to the Red Division tournament at the end of the season.
Troy is in second place at 2-1-0 in the league and 4-5-0 overall after a win over Mason 4-3 and a loss to the Miami club team over the weekend. Sycamore is currently third at 1-2-1 in the league and are 3-5-2 overall after an off weekend.
LaSalle is currently 1-3-1 in the league and 3-10-1 on the season thus far. The Mason squad is currently looking for their first win in the league and are currently 1-13-0 after losses to Alter, Elder, and Troy this past weekend.
On Friday night Dublin Coffman and Springboro met for the third time this season. The teams had previously split the first two games. On this night, Coffman came out on top 6-2 in what was an even game through two periods. Coffman took over the third period scoring 4 goals to take the win. Springboro is 2-2-1 in the Capital Hockey Conference White Division and 5-2-1 overall after a tie on Saturday with Thomas Worthington.
Meanwhile, Moeller did not play last weekend due to ice issues at Northland Ice Arena and play next at New Albany in Easton. They are currently 6-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the Capital Hockey Conference Red Division.
