Eagles claim title for first time since 2008

Tanyon Bajzer and Jake Dobrowsky scored second period goals and Nate Cappellazzo turned aside 17 of 18 shots as the St. Edward Eagles captured the championship of the 22nd annual Padua Holiday Hockey Tournament with a 2-1 win over Olentangy Liberty.

It was the fourth time St. Edward has won the title at the prestigious tournament, but the first time since 2008.

St. Edward out-shot Liberty, 14-3, in the opening period, but the Patriots led, 1-0, on a goal by Max Lundquist.  Andrew Vidrick stopped all 14 shots in the period and made 37 saves in the game.

The Eagles eventually broke through, however, and protected the 2-1 lead all the way through a scoreless third period.
