Liberty in top spot at Padua Tournament

Andrew Vidrick stopped 30 of 32 shots to lead Olentangy Liberty to a 4-2 win over Holy Name that vaulted the Patriots to the top of their division at the 2018 Padua Holiday Hockey Tournament.

With the win, Liberty is guaranteed a top two finish in the division.  St. Charles, taking on Shaker Heights at 5:00 p.m., is the only team that can keep them out of Sunday’s championship game.

Jack Mohar put Holy Name on the board with :59 left in the second period, getting the Namers within a goal, but Liberty’s Craig Lutwen responded 35 seconds later, giving the Patriots a lift heading into the second intermission.

Olentangy Liberty is competing in the tournament for the seventh time this year.  They have never made it into the championship game.

Holy Name will wait for the conclusion of the preliminary round game today to see who they will face in a consolation game on Sunday.
