All any coach can hope for is that a program is in better shape upon their departure.

Mission accomplished for Avon Lake coach Fran Sullivan.

After five years at the helm of the Shoremen, Sullivan has decided to step down as coach of the hockey team.

He announced his decision to the team following their banquet on Tuesday.

There is no doubt the Avon Lake program is better, both on and off the ice, than it was prior to Sullivan’s tenure.
