Greg Langermeier scores 2-OT winner against St. Francis

COLUMBUS, Ohio – “Cleveland Rocks” blared over the PA system at Nationwide Arena Saturday afternoon, signaling that St. Ignatius had won the OHSAA hockey state championship for the third consecutive year.

Sophomore Greg Langermeier scored a power play goal just 37 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Wildcats past Toledo St. Francis de Sales 5-4. Langermeier took the puck around center ice, weaved between multiple St. Francis defenders and then beat goaltender Jacob Coward for the third Wildcats power play goal of the night, and the most important.
