Golden Bears make statement in consolation game

Upper Arlington ended the Padua Holiday Hockey Tournament on a high note after going 0-3-0 in the preliminary round, defeating Capital Hockey Conference rival St. Charles, 3-2, in a consolation game Sunday morning.

The Golden Bears did not have a lead until Will Cohen’s game-winning goal with 4:15 left in the third period.  Cohen’s goal came less than two minutes after Duncan McDonald tied the game, 2-2, with the primary assist going to Cohen, who also assisted on Jack Lawless’ first period goal.

Garrett Alderman stopped 22 of 24 shots for UA to pick up the win.  Ben Carey made 19 saves for the Cardinals.
