NORTH OLMSTED — Avon was hoping to start getting its season turned around against Amherst at the North Olmsted Recreation Center on Sunday, but the Comets made short work of that plan.

Amherst scored five goals in the first period and never let up in an 11-1 win, continuing the Eagles' struggles in the rugged Red Division of the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League.
