St. Edward, St. Francis hold firm at 1, 2

St. Edward re-enforced their status as the team to beat so far this year in the OHSAA with a convincing 8-2 win over Saint Ignatius on Friday, but the rival Wildcats rise up to #4 in this week’s Ohio High School Hockey Coaches Poll.

Ignatius bounced back and tied Gilmour Academy, 1-1, on Saturday and now have a 2-0-2 record against the #3 Lancers.

Also moving up this week, the 10-1-2 Talawanda Brave, who jump up two spots to #7.

Toledo St. Francis remains in the second position. The Knights have won their last seven games with six of them coming against teams ranked in the Top 10 and the other against Rocky River, which received votes again this week.

The #6 Olentangy Liberty Patriots also held firm as did the #8 Upper Arlington Golden Bears and #10 University School Preppers.  US tied for the final slot in the Top 10 with the St. Charles Cardinals.

St. Charles head coach Rob Sangster will be this week's guest on the Ohio Hockey Digest podcast this week (to be released Friday).

The move up by Saint Ignatius knocked Sylvania Northview down to #5 while the Findlay Trojans slid down to #9, swapping places with Talawanda.
