The first Ohio High School Hockey Coaches Poll of the 2020-21 season was released Tuesday and the St. Edward Eagles were the unanimous #1 team, receiving all ten first-place votes.

St. Edward (10-0-1) has won every game this season except one, a 3-3 tie with Toledo St. Francis on November 28.

That tie earned St. Francis (6-2-1) the #2 spot. The Knights and Eagles faced off a second time last week with St. Edward coming back from deficits of 2-1 and 3-2 to win the game, 6-3.

Sylvania Northview (3-1-2) was kept off the ice by the Lucas County Board of Health for three weeks, but recently returned to action and never lost the confidence of voters during their hiatus.

Gilmour Academy (4-3-1), Olentangy Liberty (1-4-1) and four-time defending state champion Saint Ignatius (4-4-1) sit in the 4-6 slots.

University School (2-3-0), which has been quarantined two separate times in the first four weeks of the season, comes in at #7. The Preppers are scheduled to return to action at Saint Ignatius’ Father Welsh Showcase December 28-30.

Following #8 Findlay (4-3-1) there is a three-way tie between Olentangy Orange (4-3-0), Talawanda (6-1-1) and Upper Arlington (3-2-0) for the final two spots in the Top 10.

Archbishop Moeller, St. Charles, Toledo St. John’s and Walsh Jesuit also received votes.
