Freshman year was cut short by injury

Ohio State forward Michael Gildon was among 43 U. S. players selected to attend the World Junior Summer Showcase July 24 to August 1 in Plymouth, MI.  The Showcase serves as an evaluation camp to assist in selecting the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2020, through Jan. 5, 2021, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.

Yale forward Curtis Hall, from Chagrin Falls, and Miami University forward Jon Gruden represented Ohio at the showcase last summer.  Hall was selected for the 2020 World Junior team and helped the U. S. to a silver medal.

Gildon played in just eight games as a freshman before an injury ended his 2019-20 season.  He remained on the USA Hockey radar, however, having played two seasons for the U. S. National Team Development Program.

Gildon is a native of Plano, TX and is a product of the Dallas Stars Elite AAA program.
