River staying in striking distance

Mentor (26-1-1; 10-0-0) – Mentor moved up from #7 to #5 in this week’s Ohio High School Hockey Coach’s Poll – the highest spot they have occupied this season.  The Cardinals defeated Cleveland Heights, 11-2, last Friday on Senior Night. Mentor has three remaining regular season games going on the road to face Shaker Heights (2/1) in a non-league matchup, heading to Strongsville (2/2), and wrapping up with a home match-up with Rocky River (2/7) where the league title could be on the line.

Rocky River (17-6-3; 7-1-0) – Rocky River took care of both Strongsville and Hudson last weekend. The Pirates have four remaining regular season match-ups, all league games, starting this weekend with Benedictine (1/31) and Cleveland Heights (2/1). Next weekend the Pirates will head to Mentor (2/7) and wrap up the season at home against Benedictine (2/8).

Strongsville (16-10-1; 5-4-1) – Strongsville lost to Rocky River, 9-2, and defeated Benedictine, 3-2, in overtime this past weekend. The Mustangs will head to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to square off against Olmsted Falls (1/31), and head to Kenston (2/1), before taking on Mentor (2/2). Strongsville will finish the season with a non-league match-up at home with Bowling Green (2/8).

Hudson (14-11-1; 4-5-1) – Hudson split their weekend matchups, losing to Rocky River and defeating Cleveland Heights. The Explorers will be off until their games next week against Kenston (2/7) and Cleveland Heights (2/8).

Benedictine (9-11-0; 2-6-0) – The Bengals defeated Kenston, 5-2, but lost to Strongsville, 3-2, in overtime this past weekend. Benedictine will take on Cleveland Heights (1/30), and Rocky River (1/31) this weekend, then wrap up against Cleveland Heights (2/6) and Rocky River (2/8).

Kenston (10-17-0; 2-8-0) – Kenston went 1-1-0 over the past weekend, losing to Benedictine, but beating Cleveland Heights. This weekend the Bombers host Strongsville (2/1) and have match-ups with Hudson (2/7) and Orange (2/8) also on the horizon.

Cleveland Heights (7-19-0; 1-7-0) – Cleveland Heights dropped their games against Mentor, Kenston, and Hudson last week. The Tigers have four more games this season and will be home for three of those. They will take on Benedictine (1/30), head to Rocky River (2/1), Benedictine (2/6), and finish their regular season against Hudson (2/8).
