Mentor, Strongsville and Kenston all win tournaments

Mentor (16-1-1; 4-0-0) – Mentor won the Greg Shupe Memorial Warrior Shootout with wins over Shaker Heights, St. Charles, and Springboro. The Cardinals had previously fallen to Shaker Heights in the Thornton Park Tournament. In addition, the Cardinals also defeated Rocky River before the GSMWS. Mentor will square off against Hudson (1/3) and head to Cleveland Heights (1/4) this weekend.

Hudson (8-6-1; 2-1-1) –The Explorers split their games during the Kent Holiday Tournament, going 2-1-1; Picking up wins over Western Reserve and Bishop Watterson while losing to Talawanda twice – once in overtime. Hudson heads to Mentor (1/3) and will be at home to face Benedictine (1/4).

Strongsville (10-6-1; 2-1-1) – Strongsville swept their four games to win the Heights Holiday Tournament defeating Elyria Club, Benedictine, Clay, and Cleveland Heights. The Mustangs will play host to both Kenston (1/4) and Rocky River (1/5) this weekend.

Rocky River (9-5-2; 1-1-0) –The Pirates lost to Mentor last week before participating in the Greg Shupe Memorial Warrior Shootout. During the Shootout, Rocky River tied St. Charles, defeated Walsh Jesuit, and lost a close game to Shaker Heights. This weekend the Pirates host Padua (1/4) and head to Strongsville (1/5).

Kenston (7-9-0; 1-3-0) – The Kenston Bombers picked up a number of wins recently. Kenston defeated Cleveland Heights and went 2-2-0 in the Kent Holiday Tournament. The Bombers also won the Solon Holiday Tournament with wins over Olmsted Falls, North Olmsted (twice), and host Solon. Kenston plays host to Benedictine (1/3) and travels to Strongsville (1/4) this week.

Cleveland Heights (4-10-0; 0-2-0) – The Tigers lost to Kenston before participating in the Heights Holiday Tournament. In tournament play Cleveland Heights went 2-2-0 with wins over University School JV and Clay, though the Tigers lost to the Elyria Club and Strongsville teams during that same tournament. Coming up for the Tigers are challenging matchups against Shaker Heights (1/3) and Mentor (1/4).

Benedictine (7-7-0; 0-2-0) – Benedictine was bested by Strongsville twice within the past week. During the Heights Holiday Tournament the Bengals went 3-1-0, with wins over Clay, University JV, and Elyria Club. Upcoming games for Benedictine include two away games this weekend against Kenston (1/3) and Hudson (1/4).
