Jerome Faces Tough Test Defending CHC title

With Cincinnati Moeller dropping down to the White Division for the 2019-20 season, the Red Division of the Capital Hockey Conference will be a tight, competitive five-team grouping.

Dublin Jerome won the regular season race a year ago, following it up with their ninth Blue Jackets Cup win.  They didn’t stop there, winning the Columbus District Tournament to earn their way to Nationwide Arena for the state tournament where no Columbus-area school had ever qualified for the championship game.

The Celtics wrote their names into the record books with a 3-2 win over University School in the semifinals with Nick Augenstein scoring the game-winner 5:12 into sudden-death overtime.

The Celtics fell victim to four-time state champion Saint Ignatius the next day, but the 2018-19 season was still one for the ages for head coach Patrick Murphy and his team.

Jerome was hit hard by graduation, possibly opening the door for Upper Arlington or Olentangy Liberty to close the gap from last season.  Or maybe St. Charles or New Albany can write their own story this year.
