The growth of high school hockey in northwest Ohio is apparent when you look at the Northwest Hockey Conference. Bowling Green is back after a one-year hiatus, joining Red Division newcomers Perrysburg and Anthony Wayne to form a seven-team top flight in the NHC.
Toledo St. John’s won the 2018-19 regular season title, Sylvania Northview represented the region at the state tournament and St. Francis is poised to rebound. There will be few off nights in the division – consider Perrysburg pushing Findlay to the limit on Opening Night (3-2 Trojans win) as an example of that.
It should be a very interesting regular season, but it will all come down to who wins when the games matter most in the district playoffs.
One Red Division coach said it best:
“Northview is the top team until proven otherwise.”
