Knights Jump on Preppers Early, Beat US 4-2

Toledo St. Francis jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and held on to defeat University School, 4-2, to move to 2-0-0 at the Padua Holiday Hockey Tournament.

Nicholas Coward, Gabe Barrow and Nick Daly gave the Knights the 3-0 lead at the first intermission

St. Francis actually failed to out-shoot University School in any of the three periods, and the Preppers held the shot advantage 33-32 for the game, but Thomas Barrow was sharp in the Knights crease, making 31 saves.

The Preppers managed to pick up 1.5 points in the tournament standings, winning the second period, 1-0, on a goal by Ethan Whetstone.

Nick Daly had the other goal for Toledo St. Francis, early in the third period, and Henry Thomas answered for US to close out the scoring.

The Knights are 2-0-0 at the tournament with 8.0 points in the bank, putting them at the top of the West Division standings, at least for the time being.  Both Sylvania Northview and Olentangy Liberty could pass them by winning their games this morning.

Kyle Flatow entered the game in relief and stopped 18 of 19 shots over the final two periods for University School (1-1-0/5.5)
